Seriously Playing

With W O R D S !

Seriously Playing With Words helps teachers harness the playful power of poetry to build literacy in their classrooms.

From classroom management to building powerful vocabularies to developing unique voices, poetry is a small thing that will make a big difference in your school.

Many people see poetry as merely a school subject, just fancy words on a page. But since teaching is done with language, poetry can be used in every subject, even science and math.

      Poetic Teachers Play
Seriously Playing With Words shows teachers how to use drama and music to make language live in the classroom.

They don't have to be theater or music teachers, every teacher has the power to bring texts to life.  During the workshop teachers learn simple techniques for acting out and reciting words.

Today more than ever educators need time to loosen up and let loose with a little childlike play.

Poetic Teachers Write
Seriously Playing With Words gives teachers a chance to write.

Good teachers of writing are teachers that write.  Here's a nonthreatening and playful way to help educators experience the same struggles their students have when composing.

During the workshop teachers are given an opportunity to discover their own voices while creating rhythms, images, characters, and metaphors of their own.
